“CREATE GATWICK NATURE RESERVE” – WEST SUSSEX COUNTY TIMES – LETTERS [IFIELD SOCIETY – RICHARD W. SYMONDS] – FEBRUARY 6 2020

Dear Editor

Creating ‘mega’ housing developments in this beautiful county will not solve our problems [“More homes for district”, WSCT Front Page, Jan 30].

Here is one solution: create a Gatwick Local Nature Reserve – LNR Gatwick – as an urgent alternative to the ‘environmental catastrophe’ of the Homes England proposals West of Ifield (ie the Ancient Parish of Ifield).

This new Local Nature Reserve can include the old Willoughby Fields Nature Reserve to the north of the Parish, down to Ifield Brook Meadows, Ifield Village Conservation Area, Ifield Golf Course & Woodland and Ifield Mill Pond & Bewbush Water Gardens.

The ‘Green Infrastructure’ is already in place to make that vision possible and viable.

To make it happen will depend on us.
