‘Woodland, Wildlife & Golf’ Ramblette [route in black – arrowed]

From the Plough in Ifield Village, make towards St Margaret’s Parish Church, passing Lychgate Cottages and through the churchyard heading straight west towards Ifield Brook.

Go over bridge at Ifield Brook, heading straight west to Pound Cottages. Turn right at Rusper Road and walk along road until ‘Hamilton’ house is reached – then turn left.

Walk straight south along the track until the boundary of Ifield Golf Course is reached. Turn right along narrow footpath, with the golf course running parallel. Turn left at the end, walking along the boundary of the golf course and up the hill. Walk around the boundary of the golf course – with the dense ancient woodland to the right – until the clubhouse is reached. Remember to pass the obelisk of Sir John Drughorn who built the golf course in 1927.

Hyde Hill Brook

Follow the public footpath through The Hyde on to Rusper Road, keeping straight.

Just after the mini-roundabout, turn left along narrow path (easily missed!) and into Ifield Brook Meadows. Walk along the Brook until St Margaret’s Church is reached, then back to the Plough.
