JUNE 11 2020 – “WE WILL LOOSEN THE HOUSING ‘STRAITJACKET’, SAYS JENRICK” – DAILY TELEGRAPH

“How ironic to see Councillor Duncan Peck extolling this Conservative government’s efforts to relax planning rules so that more housing can be built. Presumably he is unaware that, as reported by The Daily Telegraph on the 2nd February, Robert Jenrick, the Housing Minister, is threatening to strip councils of planning powers in a bid to meet government imposed housing targets. Crawley Borough Council has no say or control on the Homes England plans to build 10,000 plus houses on land west of Ifield as it is within Horsham’s boundary. If implemented the Housing Minister’s proposal  would lead to a situation whereby even Horsham District Council would not have a say on the Homes England plans. So much for local democracy and accountability!”
