LETTER PUBLISHED – “MAKE IT A LOCAL NATURE RESERVE”
Dear Editor
According to a Daily Telegraph front page report last June [“Apparently not policy to by-pass”, WSCT, Aug 20], Downing Street stated that Development Corporations are “not our policy”.
If that is the case, government-quango Homes England cannot deliver their promised £3bn masterplan of 10,000 houses West of Ifield.
Without Development Corporation powers, Homes England and their ‘associates’ will be unable to persuade powers-that-be that the ancient Parish of Ifield – with its 1000-year history, ancient woodland and diverse wildlife – is a “Growth Zone”.
The best way forward, to avert an environmental, economic and social catastrophe, is to make the whole area a Government-endorsed “Protected Zone” – Ifield Park Local Nature Reserve [LNR] – with Horsham District Council and Crawley Borough Council implementing a Joint Area Action Plan [JAAP].
