IFIELD GOLF CLUB – CHAIRMAN’S REPORT ON HOMES ENGLAND
Our fight to secure the future of Ifield Golf Club has gained considerable momentum since the
publishing of Homes England Garden Village Scheme (SA101) to build 10,000 homes. Horsham and
District Council flagged this as not suitable for development in SHLAA Report (Strategic Housing and
Economic Land Availability Assessment) but Homes England is still aggressively promoting this
The ‘Friends of Ifield ‘and Rusper Parish Council both nominated Ifield Golf Club for Asset of
Community Value status but unfortunately this was challenged by Homes England and resulted in this
not being granted by HDC.
At the time of writing this report Homes England have made a revised offer to the Consortium to
acquire the freehold interest of the land owned by Ifield Golf Club Limited and this was accepted
unanimously by the shareholders. We must now wait to see if Horsham & District Council incorporate
this land in their Local Plan now due to be published in December 2021.
We continue to fight on the basis that we are protected under the National Planning Policy framework
(NPPF) Paragraphs 97 which states that existing open space and recreational land should not be built
(a) An assessment has been undertaken which clearly shows that Ifield Golf Club is surplus to

better in quality and quantity.
(c) The development is for alternative sports and recreational provision.
