“HOMES ENGLAND AND THEIR ASSOCIATES CAN MASTERPLAN THEIR 10,000 UNILATERAL WET-DREAM, BUT NOT WITHIN OUR ANCIENT PARISH AND NOT ON OUR GOLF COURSE. HOW WILL THIS LOCAL PLAN OF INSANITY FOR IFIELD GOLF CLUB EVER GET PAST THE PLANNING INSPECTOR?”
A ‘Call for Sanity’, regarding Ifield Golf Club, is demanded ahead of the Cabinet meeting of Horsham District Council [HDC] – Thursday July 15 2021.
It is insanity to approve the “first phase” of Homes England’s masterplan of 10,000 houses, which is guaranteed to bury this precious community asset under concrete and tarmac – within the ancient Parish of Ifield with its 1000-year history – forever.
In 1927, when the Lord of the Manor Sir John Drughorn built this beautifully-designed golf course by Hawtree and Taylor, it appears to have been contractually-decided that the playing of golf on this parish land was to be “open to the Residents of the Parish…in perpetuity”.
Surely, at the very least, HDC must delay their decision until these critical matters – and others – are fully investigated.
