HOMES ENGLAND AND HEDGEROW DESTRUCTION – “IT IS A CRIMINAL OFFENCE TO REMOVE A HEDGEROW”
‘HOMES ENGLAND & HEDGEROW DESTRUCTION’ LETTER SUBMISSION TO CRAWLEY OBSERVER AND WEST SUSSEX COUNTY TIMES [UNPUBLISHED]
Homes England’s promotion for the development West of Ifield raises many questions [“Next ‘Trespass Walk’ planned”, Observer/WSCT Letters, Aug 11/12].
One serious question being raised is that, on this Government-owned land under review, ancient hedgerows have been destroyed.
Such destruction would appear to be contrary to the legal requirements of the Hedgerows Regulations 1997 – which fall under the Environment Act 1995.
This issue needs immediate addressing by the landowner responsible for the stewardship of public land – Homes England.
