AUGUST 23 2021 – HOMES ENGLAND’S RESPONSE TO A CONSTITUENT OF THE CRAWLEY MP HENRY SMITH – CALLING FOR AN IMMEDIATE INQUIRY INTO HOMES ENGLAND AND THE WEST OF IFIELD DEVELOPMENT + THE CONSTITUENT’S RESPONSE

Dear Richard Symonds

Further to our previous correspondence regarding your concerns over the actions of Homes England with reference to issues including their proposals for up to 10,000 housing units to the west of Ifield, please see below the response my office has now received from the organisation;

Homes England is a values driven organisation and takes any allegations of wrongdoing seriously. If your constituent wishes to complain about specific actions or behaviour then we welcome them to do so via our complaints procedure, the details of which can be found here: https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/homes-england/about/complaints-procedure.

The Agency has issued full responses to all Freedom of Information requests concerning its involvement at the Land West of Ifield site option, though there may be instances where information has been withheld under the applicable legislation.

Requests are processed under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 or the Environmental Information Regulations 2004 and the Agency’s responses are regulated by the Information Commissioner’s Office. The requestor may access our appeals procedure if they are dissatisfied with a response, details of the procedure are communicated when the response is issued.

Please be assured of my continued attention.

Yours sincerely

Dear Henry Smith MP

Many thanks for sending Homes England’s response – and greatly appreciate your assistance [and continuing attention] on this serious matter.

I am not surprised by this response by the custodians of public land, and have no intention of using their own complaints procedure to remedy what is a disgraceful situation.

My reason for not complaining to Homes England is two-fold: it would be a waste my precious time and I don’t trust them.

Yours sincerely

Richard Symonds

Subject: CALL FOR IMMEDIATE INQUIRY INTO HOMES ENGLAND

Dear Henry Smith MP

I am writing to ask you, as my constituent MP, to call for an immediate Inquiry into Homes England.

There is very serious concern that corporate bullying, coercion and abuse of power may have taken place, especially in relation to the Local Green Space [LGS] of Ifield Brook Meadows and its surrounding areas – all under the stewardship of Homes England.

There is also very serious concern that at least three Freedom of Information [FoI] questions remain unanswered by Homes England, in relation to the SA101 Land West of Ifield site option, currently being considered by the Horsham District Council [HDC].

This calls into question how informed HDC councillors have been, are, and will be regarding West of Ifield site option.

I look forward to your reply at the earliest opportunity.

Yours sincerely
