SEPTEMBER 8 2022 – “A POSSIBLE CONSEQUENCE” – WEST SUSSEX COUNTY TIMES – LETTERS

Dear Editor

I write in support of the letter published recently, warning of the possible threat of subsidence to St. Margaret’s Church in Ifield.

This has been identified by Historic England as a possible consequence of the proposed 10,000 housing development by Homes England on land West of Ifield.

I urge all interested parties – including Crawley Borough Council, Horsham District Council, West Sussex County Council, Homes England, Historic England and the Church of England – to urgently review this potential threat to the 13th century church at the geographical centre of the ancient parish, and to take any steps necessary to ensure that irreparable damage is not caused to its structure.

Yours sincerely

Kevin Lawler
