HENRY SMITH, MP FOR CRAWLEY

“WHAT ARE YOU ACTUALLY DOING – NOT JUST SAYING – TO PROTECT OUR ANCIENT PARISH FROM HOMES ENGLAND’S MONSTROUS MASTERPLAN?”

[Proposed Public Question at the Crawley Borough Council Cabinet Meeting – this Wednesday [Nov 23 2022] – Town Hall – 7pm]

‘COME AND MEET US’ – CRAWLEY OBSERVER – NOVEMBER 16 2022 [“Come and…find out…why…plans…will be a disaster for Crawley”]

The Save West of Ifield Committee will be at a stall outside Primark on the ground floor in County Mall this coming Saturday [19th November] between 09.00am and 5.00pm. Come and have a chat with us to find out why we think that Homes England and Horsham District Council plans to build up to 10,000 new houses on land West of Ifield will be a disaster for Crawley. Our petition opposing the plans has now reached 5,000 signatures.

Aidan Zeall – Save West of Ifield

‘ENSURING PROTECTION’ – CRAWLEY OBSERVER – November 16 2022 [“The ancient heritage of St Margaret’s Church parish must be protected” – Henry Smith – MP for Crawley]

“The ancient heritage of St Margaret’s Church parish must be protected” [‘Horror at housing plan’, WSCT Letters, Nov 3].

That was the conclusion of Henry Smith, MP for Crawley, after attending the Friendly Dragon Mass Trespass Walk…

Crawley Borough Council can ensure that protection by a ‘Queen Elizabeth II Nature Reserve’ – incorporating Willoughby Field Local Nature Reserve [LNR], Ifield Brook Meadows Local Green Space [LGS] and Ifield Mill & Millpond [SNCI].

Horsham District Council can ensure that protection by voting to remove ‘West of Ifield’ from its Local Plan at Full Council on January 11th 2023…

On the eve of St Margaret’s Remembrance Sunday at the geographical centre of the ancient Parish of Ifield , a walk took place to Ifield Mill – ‘The Millers Trail’ – which was specially opened for the occasion.

This Saturday’s walk [November 19] – ‘Ifield’s 3,500-Year History in 2 Hours’ – will take place from The Plough at 11am [returning by 1pm].

All welcome – including dogs.

Richard W. Symonds – The Ifield Society

“To conclude: this is a bad proposal with no redeeming features, except for the developers. It’s unnecessary, lazily planned, politically influenced, and utterly insensitive to the people who live here”

Paul and Diana Norman – Rusper Road, Ifield [West Sussex County Times – Letter – ‘West of Ifield’ – November 17 2022]
