‘HOMES PLAN BREAKS WATER NEUTRALITY’ – CRAWLEY OBSERVER – LETTERS

Dear Editor

Water Neutrality requires that the amount of water used in West Sussex – and elsewhere – is the same or lower after large developments are built [‘Local Plan for future housing’, West Sussex County Times, Nov 30]

Natural England’s “Position Statement” on Water Neutrality is a governmental legal directive [‘Bid to unlock developments for “thousands of new homes” in West Sussex’, Sussex World, Nov 26].

H4H Consortium “urges Natural England to rescind their Position Statement and for the local councils to issue planning permissions, blocked by the Water Neutrality requirement”.

By issuing this statement, isn’t H4H Consortium encouraging certain parties to break the law – such as Horsham District councillors in a ‘West of Ifield’ vote on December 11?

As parishioners within the ancient Parish of Ifield we rely on Horsham District Council, Crawley Borough Council and West Sussex County Council to protect our water supply in North Sussex and ensure strict legal compliance to Water Neutrality directives.
Yours sincerely

Dear Editor
”A delegation…took to the streets of London to draw attention to Homes England’s plan to build 3,000 houses…” [‘Group delivers petition and letter’, Crawley Observer, Nov 29].

Correction: Homes England’s 3000 development plan is the first phase of a 10,000 masterplan within the ancient Parish of Ifield – and beyond it.

It would be insane madness to allow this massive development West of Ifield to go any further.

Yours sincerely

Horsham District Council concluded in 2016 and 2018 the West of Ifield [SA 101] was “Not Currently Developable” and gave the reasons for doing so.

What has changed between then and now?

Nothing – except the powers of persuasion.
