“I don’t think we’re under-fire on this, as she [Angela Rayner – Shadow Housing Minister] didn’t say anything specifically about the [West of Ifield] site itself, while she acknowledged that developers are getting away with murder on infrastructure and that it should be up to local communities to say where housing should go.
I think we all acknowledge that housing is needed, but that it needs to be genuinely affordable for local people and that what is being proposed West of Ifield simply doesn’t work for the town, so the housing numbers need to be delivered differently to what is currently being proposed and Crawley as the community affected should really have control of how that is achieved. That’s a step forward from where we are now, so just need to keep pushing”
Peter Lamb – Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for the Labour Party – Crawley
“The masterplan is to ‘bolt-on’ a monstrous 3k to 10k Horsham development on to Crawley’s infrastructure. What is also absurd is that Horsham’s Cabinet Member for Planning and Infrastructure is then proposing a ‘Green Belt’ to separate its own ‘bolt-on’ development from the rest of Horsham. The masterplan is simply insane”
