The Ifield Society was established in 2001 after the ancient Parish – with its 1000-year history – was described as “an area lacking in heritage and character”.
Ifield Society “Ramblettes” (or Short Walks) were organised – and still are – to highlight this ancient area as rich in heritage, full of character, and teeming with wildlife.
This ancient Parish – including Ifield Brook Meadows – has been threatened by housing development plans. The Ifield Society has become actively involved in fighting these plans.
Ifield Brook Meadows – part of the ancient Parish – has been granted designation (and protection) as a Local Green Space (LGS) by Crawley Borough Council.
